The LUNCH Collective is finally getting the ball rolling. It’s taken a lot of thinking and overthinking to get to to the point where we’re putting words on the screen, but we finally have some semblance of a roadmap and were sticking to it. Originally, LUNCH was intended to be an annual/biannual photography gallery, giving opportunity to photographers to showcase their work without all of the red tape that usually comes along with trying to do so.

Now, three years on after the first event at the Community Arts Workshop, the entire concept has changed. You can visit the About page for more specifics, but in essence, we want be more than just an occasional gallery event. We want to be the stewards of film photography preservation. We want to create a platform that true photographers aspire to become a part of. In the face of the damage social media is doing to the photography and art world writ large, we aim to seek out and celebrate photographers based on the merit of their work alone, not a follower count, not the brand partnerships they’ve made, not who their parents are. So yes, its exclusive. No, not everyone will be allowed to join.

The core elements of how LUNCH operates are as follows-

-Our founding members will remain anonymous, and will only communicate though an intermediary when contacting new artists or arranging events.

-All financial and transactional information will be 100% transparent and publicly accessable.

-All fundraising proceeds will go toward Film Preservation, via a program arranged with various local art funds or collectives chosen at LUNCH’s discretion.

-Events will have a strict dress code, formal and monochrome only.

-Live music is mandatory

It seems like a lot, maybe even crazy. But we are currently looking for the first four official members to be featured in our winter gallery, so we will be posting details soon.
